Parent Resource: Surviving Year 12

Year 12 is considered by some to be the most important year of schooling. There is an enormous amount of pressure on Year 12 students and it comes from parents, teachers, schools and the students themselves. There are a number of ways parents can support their children as they work through their final year of schooling. Read more...

Attendance Requirements

From Thursday 15 June, students who do not have a class in Period 1 on any day are allowed to have a late start. Students must sign in electronically at Student Services or Scholastica before Pastoral Group on Day 9 and before recess all other days. As usual, an SMS will be sent home if a student is absent.

Senior students have more independence and flexibility with attendance, however all Year 12 students are expected to be at school each day by 8:45am. Students are also expected to attend all Pastoral Group sessions and assemblies scheduled throughout the year.

Students who have Private Study in Period 4 may leave the College campus for home study provided they have returned the attached parent consent form, and sign out using the attendance kiosk at Student Services. We ask that parents and students discuss transport arrangements and appropriate use of this time. We recommend that students regard this time as part of their normal school week and not use this time for socialising, shopping or increasing part-time work.

100% attendance is very important and expected for all Year 12 students. A medical certificate is required to authorise absence from a SAC or more than a day’s absence.  All absences should be notified as usual by a call to the absence line and a parent note.
