Child Safeguarding

We hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of all adults and students at our College.

As one of 10 Good Samaritan Education schools established by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan in the Benedictine tradition, we believe all students have the right to a safe and non-threatening learning environment. An environment where they are respected, treated with consideration, and have their voices heard. In his Rule, St Benedict urges us to ‘listen with the ear of our heart’ and place the welfare of others above our own.

Staff at Mater Christi College understand their duty of care to our students. In particular, those considered more vulnerable including First Nations students, students of all genders and sexualities, students with disabilities, refugees and those from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
