Friday 3 September is our Screen Free Wellbeing Day. The staff at Mater Christi College have put their heads together to give you ideas for how to go screen free this Friday. Have a look down the list and see if anything takes your fancy.
- Gardening - rake leaves (very satisfying) and pull out some weeds.
- Wash parents/carers car - clean the inside as well!
- Make the family dinner... Tacos/pasta/crumble for dessert? Make a menu and use a recipe BOOK!
- Change around your room, go through your old memories from primary school, organise into a special box
- Threatened Species Bake off
- Make an art piece for your bedroom
- Write letters to family members you haven’t been able to see for a while
- Create a photo wall for your bedroom around your favourite inspirational quote
- Make friendship bracelets for your friends and send it to them in the mail
- Recreate album covers and photograph yourselves
- Bake a loaf of bread …
- Draw a chalk mural or obstacle course on the ground out the front of your house so those walking by can use it/ admire it
- Create a display in a front window of your house (e.g. teddy bears) so those passing can look at it
- Write a note/ letter to a neighbour who lives alone
- Read your favourite book from primary school again!
- Tidy your work area and sort through all your papers etc. Make the space more organised and inviting – put up pictures of what you want to achieve this week? This month? This year?
- Look for pictures of inspiration
- Challenge yourself to walk 15,000 steps today!
- Using Royal Icing – create sculptures to decorate next cake
- Create a family obstacle course (a difficult one!) and see who can complete it in the best time
- If you have a lemon tree, share some with your neighbours
- Learn to write/draw with your other hand
- Put on some music and dance around the backyard. Can you use the whole space?
- Journal writing "a letter to someone I miss" or “a letter to my parents about what you have taught me” or "a love letter to myself because I am worth it" (create a Zoom session this weekend with friends to share your letters)
- Go to "another country" i.e., to Japan and make sushi, Japanese curry (note the "Golden Curry" from the Woolworths international section is so easy!), do origami(we will allow you to use YouTube for this!)
- Home Day spa (gather flowers for bath, add some oils if you have, light candles (safely), soak, read if you like but don’t drop your book in), walk, do a stretching class, paint your nails, wash and style your hair, cuddle up with a blanket and read a good book with a warm drink near you)
- Have a “Biscuit Bake Off”. Challenge a close by friend or neighbour to bake a batch of biscuits than swap half a batch each so you both can enjoy each other's baking
- Make a batch of playdough and deliver it to a street library or neighbour with small children.
