It’s a wrap – Term 1 Sports

Term 1 was packed full of sports competitions and carnivals.  It was great to see such high energy levels, determination and participation amongst the students, after missing almost a whole year of competition last year. Below is a summary of the first term's events:

SCSA TRIATHLON

The SCSA Triathlon was held on 23 February, in Geelong. It was a very chilly and wet morning, however all the girls were in high spirits and optimistic about the day ahead. All participants displayed determination and high athletic ability. It was a great day, despite the weather, and wonderful to see so many involved.

Results :   Juniors 4th, Intermediates 5th, Seniors 5th.

SCSA TENNIS

On 11 March,  the SCSA Tennis was held at Boroondara Tennis Centre. It was a lovely sunny day, full of competition and fun. It was fantastic to see all the schools encouraging one another. We congratulate the Intermediate Team for making the grand final.

Results : Juniors 4th, Intermediates 2nd, Seniors 5th.

MCC MIDDLE SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The warm and sunny weather on 19 February ensured a fantastic day out from the classroom for the Middle School Swimming Carnival. The level of participation from students was incredible with loads of house spirit thrown in. Congratulations to Gibbons – House Spirit Winners & Lyons – Overall Winners.

MCC ATHLETICS

Our Whole School Athletics Carnival was held at Knox Athletic track on 19 March. With a range of track and field events, it was great to see all students participating and getting involved, especially the year 7s and 8s for their first athletics carnival at Mater. A wonderful day, full of colour, house spirit, fun and achievement.

Results : Overall winners - Chisholm House, with Gibbons 2nd, Lyons 3rd and MacKillop 4th. House Spirit winners - Chisholm House, with MacKillop 2nd, Gibbons 3rd and Lyons 4th.

SCSA SWIMMING AND DIVING

The SCSA Swimming and Diving was held at MSAC on 10 March, after a month of training sessions. All swimmers and divers demonstrated impressive talent, teamwork and encouragement of their peers. It was a great night had by all, full of excitement and adrenaline.

Results : Diving Team - 1st overall, Swimmers : Juniors 2nd, Intermediates 2nd, Seniors 1st.

SCSA INDOOR CRICKET

Three teams from Mater Christi competed in the SCSA Indoor Cricket. All fought hard throughout the competition and tried their best. It was great day and real improvements were seen as the day progressed.

 Results: Juniors 2nd, Intermediates 4th, Seniors 2nd.
