An Anzac Day reflection

106 years ago, on April 25th, 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on, and invaded, the Gallipoli peninsula in Western Turkey.

We were not there to defend Democracy, nor was Australia being threatened. We were involved because of our alliance with, and loyalty to, Great Britain.

Introducing our College Principal from 2021

Following the announcement of Maria Haggett as College Principal from 2021, we are delighted to now introduce and welcome Maria to the Mater Christi community.

Maria was introduced to students at our Zoom Assembly this morning. She is excited and very much looking forward to taking up her new role.

Mater Day – 2020

Friday 14 August marked our annual Mater Day. On this day we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption where Mary was raised to heaven.

Mater Day 2020 was different to previous years. Instead of being together physically, were came together in spirit and online.

New Principal Announced

The College Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Maria Haggett as College Principal, commencing January 2021.

Support our students to build communities

This Friday, the Mater Christi College community will be awash with colour as we celebrate Mater Day and raise money for communities in need.

We are asking families and friends of the College to sponsor the event with funds raised going towards the work of the Good Sams.

#ALWAYSAMATERGIRL – Courtney Siesmaa (2015)

Class of 2015 Alumna Courtney Siesmaa knew her passion from a very young age. Her love of fashion and the visual arts lead her to pursue these subjects at school, to be accepted into an Associate Degree in Fashion Design at RMIT and more recently to secure her first job, where she is being trained as a Visual Merchandiser for JD Sports.

#ALWAYSAMATERGIRL – Melanie Shears (2003)

It’s hard to summarise my journey from Mater Christi student to malaria research scientist in a few paragraphs.

There were so many alternative paths I could have taken. My academic and professional career path has not been a straight line, but it led me to where I am today - living overseas and working in an area of science that I find meaningful and engaging.
