Schools around Australia have offered Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs to students for over 20 years, yet misunderstandings and uncertainties remain in the minds of some students and parents. At Mater Christi College, we believe that VET programs offer practical opportunities for all students to consider.
The central role of Progress Meetings is to provide individual feedback to students and parents, so we encourage everyone to make use of this opportunity to discuss student learning.
As distinct from the traditional parent-teacher evening, where teachers deliver, and parents receive, our focus is to involve all three members of the learning partnership, the student, parent and teacher, in a conversation about student learning, goals and direction.
Our Year 8 students have been some of the first students in the Yarra Ranges to experience the new Yarra Ranges Tech School in 2017.
Yarra Ranges Tech School is a high-tech centre with virtual reality technology, robots, 3D printing labs and simulation rooms.
