TERM 3 PROGRESS STATEMENTS AND MEETINGS
Progress Statements provide a brief overview of a student’s level of achievement and work practices in each of their subjects in Term 3. This is followed by a more detailed report at the end of Semester 2. Each reporting period is supported by the opportunity for parents and students to meet with teachers at Progress Meetings for more detailed conversations about student learning.
Progress Meetings play an integral role in the communication between home and school and provide an opportunity for students to reflect on their learning, seek input from parents and teachers, and set goals for the term to come. Students are encouraged to lead the discussion, with the support of their teachers, as we believe that they are more likely to grow if they take responsibility for their learning.
This process differs from the traditional parent-teacher interviews, where teachers deliver information to parents. Instead, our focus is on involving all three members of the learning partnership, the student, parents and teacher, in a conversation about student progress.
This is a process that all students can benefit from, regardless of their level of achievement or their work practices, and so we encourage everyone to make use of this important opportunity to discuss student learning.
Term 3 Progress Statements will be available via MyMCC:
- Year 9 from 1.00pm Thursday 29 August
- Years 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 from 1.00pm Thursday 12 September
Bookings open via MyMCC for Years 7- 12 Progress Meetings:
NB: Year 9 parents should discuss with their daughters the most relevant choice of DISCOVER teacher to meet.
- Open 1.00pm Thursday 12 September
- Close 5.00pm Wednesday 18 September
- Reopen on 9.00pm Thursday 19 September and close 5.00pm Monday 7 October
Progress Meetings Years 7-12 :
- Thursday 19 September, 4.00 – 8.30pm (Students dismissed 3:05pm)
- Tuesday 8 October, 2.00 – 8.30pm (Students dismissed 1:00pm)
Scholastica and the Learning Commons will be open and supervised for students who wish to remain at the College after 1.00pm.

On occasions, a teacher may be unavailable for interviews. If you are unable to book an interview with an individual teacher, you are invited to contact the teacher via email, and they will respond as soon as possible.
End of Semester 2 Progress Meetings will be held on Wednesday 11 December.
INTRANET CHANGE - UPDATE
You may recall that at the start of this term we launched Canvas as our new Learning Management System (LMS) as well as a new Intranet (SchoolBox) which is accessed through MyMCC.
We are very pleased with Canvas as an effective platform for delivering course materials to engage students in their learning and we encourage parents to explore the features of Canvas with their daughters.
We have received enquiries from some parents seeking access to more details about their daughter’s homework, due dates, feedback and assessment data.
We are waiting on software developers to connect information in Canvas to our Intranet so that parents can more easily access learning and assessment data. We understand that the software is under testing and may be ready for the start of next term… hopefully.
In the meantime, we invite you to have a look at Canvas with your daughter to get a sense of how we’re using this platform and how she is progressing in her subjects.
