“My journey at Mater Christi is something I will always look back on fondly, and I am so grateful for the years I spent there.” – 2023 COLLEGE DUX TESS GRANDIA

Tess has ‘always valued hard work and dedication’ - an outlook that has served her well and culminated in her ATAR of 98.4 and her acceptance into the university degree of her choice.

Tess says her grounding at Mater Christi College and the support of so many excellent teachers laid the foundation for her ultimate success. “I made so many memories and lifelong friendships at Mater, which is something I greatly cherish and appreciate. I left Mater Christi with more developed determination, dedication and friendship skills.

”Tess extends a special shout-out to her Outdoor and Environmental Studies teacher, Ms Johns, whose friendly attitude and willingness to see students on any occasion she found particularly motivating.“ In fact,” says Tess, “the bubbly and positive personalities of all my teachers - Ms Callahan, Ms McAdam, Ms Baker and Mr Miller - enhanced my Year 12 experience greatly and made school worthwhile for me.”

Year 12 wasn’t all hard work for Tess, though, as she maintained a good balance between study and fun. “Working alongside my peers and teachers, getting help when needed, and dedicating time outside school to my studies definitely played a role in my outcome.

However, the main factor in my success was maintaining a balance between school and life, ensuring I took time to relax and have fun with friends rather than overworking myself.”

With Year 12 behind her now, Tess is excited about the career opportunities open to her and is looking forward to beginning her Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at Latrobe University in March.

Well done, Tess!
