CLASS OF 2024 SPOTLIGHT -Sienna O'Connor
When she arrived at Mater Christi in Year 7, Sienna says she had always been a hard-working student who was keen to do well. However, she also lacked self-confidence and had no idea what she wanted to do or who she wanted to be. Over her six years at Mater, Sienna developed a better understanding of herself and who she wanted to be.

Doing so will provide you with a goal, and a way to take pride in the completion of a pivotal year. Whatever the objective, find passion in it, and take every measure you can to achieve it.”

PROJECT COMPASSION 2025
The season of Lent marks the beginning of CARITAS AUSTRALIA'S PROJECT COMPASSION APPEAL. Every year, through fundraising efforts, Mater Christi College supports Caritas in their incredible work to end poverty, promote justice, and uphold dignity within local communities around the world and in Australia.

Mater on LIVEFM
Year 11 VCE students recently worked with Ralph Barba from LIVEFM - learning the ins and outs of live radio - as part of their Vocational Major Personal Development subject. The students researched and designed interview questions for their guests and conducted the interviews themselves.
ONE VCE at MATER - Charlie
Year 12 student Charlie discovered her calling while volunteering for local disability service provider Interchange Outer East (IOE). She has chosen to do VCE with a Vocational Major—combining a selection of VCE and VM subjects that suit her interests and goals—and now works a casual job as a Junior Support Worker.

Mechanics and VCE can go hand in hand
Year 12 student Christiana loves cars! She has always loved cars! Luckily, with opportunities provided through her studies at Mater Christi, Christiana has been able to delve deeper into her passion and position herself for a successful career in the automotive industry when she leaves school.

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT - VANESSA MILLS (CLASS OF 2023)
The journey of our 2023 VCE-VM Dux, Vanessa Mills, epitomises the value of a strong work ethic, flexible pathways, and having access to the tools to succeed. Vanessa's determination and ability to focus on her goals - combined with the opportunities she received at school and the support of family and friends - led her to secure her dream job straight out of secondary school as a Jillaroo in North-West Queensland.

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT - TESS GRANDIA (2023 DUX)
Tess has ‘always valued hard work and dedication’ - an outlook that has served her well and culminated in her ATAR of 98.4 and her acceptance into the university degree of her choice. Tess says her grounding at Mater Christi College and the support of so many excellent teachers laid the foundation for her ultimate success.

At our first whole of College Mass, Ms Haggett unpacked our 2024 College theme: Kindness Transforms Community, explaining why kindness is so important in everthing we do, both at school and in our daily lives as a community. Indeed 'Communities thrive when kindness abounds, and sadly, fall apart when it is forgotten'.
